On Saturday the 8th of March we went to casey fields to do a run for a friend of our family who has a brain tuma in three different places and now is incurable and he held a run which goes for 4 1/2 hours to help raise money so he can go on a family holiday to china and because they have a special thing in china which actually fights the brain tuma’s.At 3:00pm Scotty called me up to shave my head at first I had a bit of nerves but I got used to everyone standing around me, people started putting money in to the box and the money I was raising was increasing by the second and the end result was $300.
About 4 weeks ago the grade 6 classes started an India Project. We have to research about India and learn more things to include into our project.
For the project we have to do a brocure about India, we can do the brocure either by our selves or with a partner. We also got into groups and each group is working on a particular part of India. Some of the groups are food, popular sport, Indian animals, history and more.
My group is working on the food. We will be making Indian foods and will be sharing it with everyone that comes to the class. The sport group is making a hockey ground because the national sport is Hockey. The animal group is making a forest and making some Indian animals to include into it.
The Expo is on the 1st of April which is very soon, so hopefully they are fooling us on April Fools Day, and making it later on in the month.
A couple of weeks ago we met our preb buddies. Our prep teachers name is Miss Quilch. Some people had to share a buddy but others gad one. My buddies name is Lucinda but she likes being called Lucy. When we got there we told our buddies about our selves and then we gave them a buddy bear. In the picture Lucy and I were colouring a picture of buddy bear at the beach.
On Monday the 17th of March 2014 3 berwick lodge students got to go to District netball to try out. it was very challenging but I did pretty well. I really enjoyed trying out and we have another try out next Monday. All we had to do was play a couple games and they would see how well you play.
My favourite part was playing the games because there was a lot of great students. I really like it because I like a challenge. It was such a great experience and I hope I get in. If you get in then you have to try out more and after all the try outs you go to state netball.

Hi everyone, just thought I should make a post about our current Library/Aisan Studies topic; India. Hope you enjoy. 😀
The Grade 5/6 classes of Berwick Lodge Primary School have been each assigned an Aisan (or semi-European) country to research. 6W has been assigned India. It is a very interesting and diverse culture which would take any scholar years to fully document. I can only begin to comprehend the diversity and wonder of this country.
Our class has been asked to make a brochure using Microsoft Publisher. The theme for ths brochure is the culture and traditions of the Indian sub-continent. We have been using a variety of resources to research the different Hindu, Muslim and Sikh festivals, along with their respective foods and cultures. Our focus has mainly been on how people and children live in India. Many live in conditions worse than poverty, scouring tips and train stations for scraps of food. Others, live in beautiful, modern, posh and expensive houses. The residents of Indian live in extremes, on both ends, good and bad.
India’s history is very diverse. They have been invaded by Persians, conquered by Greeks and ruled as a British colony. I hope this has shown you what we have been working on. Bye 😀
2-3 Weeks ago Grade 6W went to meet Prep Q, our buddy class to meet and chat to them. When we got to Prep Q we sat on the floor on the other side to our soon to be buddies.
We waited eagerly as our names and our buddies were called out. Eventually My name was called out and Kodi’s,(Kodi is also Williams buddy) our buddy William was also called and he came over to us and sat with us, and we chated and got to know each other.
After the chat we gave him a buddy bear. After this a few pictures were taken and we went back to Will’s seat. We got handed a sheet to colour in, so we did that.
After this the time was over and we had to go back to class, we said goodbye and headed back to class.
About 3 weeks ago 6W and all of the other grade 6 classes started an India project where we find a lot of information about India and then put it all in one brochure.
Then we had an idea of creating an expo so we thought about and now we are working on an expo and it is going to be held on the 1st of April. My group consists of Yasmin, Josh B, Dimitra and myself. Each group got to do a different subject and our group chose to do food. We are going quite well so come along and have some fun, eat some food and play some games!
On the 21st of March it’s Harmony Day. The theme this years is everybody belongs. It’s about celebrating our similarities and it’s about recognising our differences. It’s a day to celebrate Australia’s happiness. Our school is having a parade on the 21st. Students are meant to wear culture clothing or orange. I can’t wait, it is going to be so fun!
